Privacy policy

Last updated October 20, 2026.

Pacific Tackle Vancouver Ltd. (“we”, “us”) operates the Pacific Tackle & Outdoor store and this website. As a private organization in British Columbia, we handle personal information in accordance with BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Where personal information crosses provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activity — for example, when we ship an order outside BC — the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) may also apply.

What we collect

  • Orders: name, email, phone, shipping address (if shipping), the products ordered and any notes.
  • Payments: handled by our payment provider. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Contact and workshop requests: the details you enter in the form.
  • Newsletter: email address and a record of your consent (date, wording, source).
  • Website: your cart and cookie choice are stored in your own browser (localStorage). Analytics data is collected only if you allow it.

Why we use it

To process and deliver orders, arrange pickup, answer requests, run workshops, send the fishing report if you subscribed, and meet legal and tax record-keeping obligations. We share shipping details with our carrier only to deliver your order. We do not sell personal information.

By placing an order or sending a form you consent to us using the details for that purpose. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will explain the likely consequences.

Email marketing (CASL)

We send commercial electronic messages — such as the fishing report, workshop dates and offers — only with your express consent, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every message identifies Pacific Tackle Vancouver Ltd., includes our mailing address and contact details, and has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days. Order and shipping confirmations are transactional messages, not marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary storage (cart, cookie choice) is always on. Optional categories are off by default: we use Google Consent Mode v2 with advertising and analytics signals set to “denied” until you choose. Google Analytics (G-XXXXXXX) is loaded only after you accept analytics. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Service providers and storage outside Canada

We use service providers for payments, shipping, email, hosting and (with consent) analytics. Some may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We require providers to protect information appropriately.

Retention and security

Order records are kept as long as tax law requires; contact requests for up to 24 months. We use reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards.

Your rights

You may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. Under PIPA we respond within 30 business days. Write to our Privacy Officer: Privacy Officer, Pacific Tackle Vancouver Ltd., 78 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC, [email protected].

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC BC) — oipc.bc.ca. Where PIPEDA applies, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Changes

We will update this policy when our practices or the law change (for example, if federal legislation replacing PIPEDA comes into force) and show the date at the top.
